Sex workers all over the country today marked an international day against violence on prostitutes. The prostitutes and gays marched the streets of Nairobi protesting over the unfair treatment they are subjected to.
Airing their grievances, the members of the oldest profession said that they are treated unfairly in health, transport and other facilities. For instance, they alleged that they are denied medical services by virtue of being sex workers.
They cited harassment, arrest and mistreatment and violence from the police demanding that their rights be respected. They carried placards spelling out their plight urging the Government to look into their affairs and ensure that they are treated with respect since they are mothers and fathers and some even grandparents.
